Salt Tour Terms and Conditions

OPITO BAY SALT CO.
TASTING AND TOUR BOOKING TERMS

By making a booking, you agree to the following terms on behalf of yourself and everyone included in your group.

  1. Group bookings

Bookings are available for groups of two to six people. Larger Groups by arrangement. The person making the booking is responsible for selecting and paying for the correct group size.

If you wish to add guests, please contact us before your visit. Additional guests are subject to availability, our maximum group size and payment of the additional charge.

If your group size decreases, any price adjustment will be subject to our cancellation terms below.

  1. Payment and confirmation

Your booking is confirmed once payment, or any required deposit, has been received and you have received confirmation from Opito Bay Salt Co.

All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST where applicable.

  1. Cancellations and changes

If you need to cancel or change your booking:

• More than 24 hours before your booked time: you may receive a full refund or move your booking to another available date.

• Less than 24 hours before your booked time: payments are non-refundable.

• Failure to attend: no refund or credit will normally be provided.

We understand that genuine emergencies happen and may consider exceptional circumstances at our discretion.

  1. Arrival and late attendance

Please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled starting time.

Because experiences are scheduled around other bookings and salt-farm operations, late arrival may result in a shortened experience. Guests arriving more than 20 minutes late may be treated as a non-attendance, and a refund cannot be guaranteed.

  1. Weather and operational conditions

Salt making is shaped by the ocean and the weather. Harvesting, evaporation and production activity vary according to sea conditions, sunshine, wind and the stage of the salt-making process.

Your visit therefore may not coincide with seawater collection, crystal harvesting or active production. Access to some areas may also be restricted for safety, hygiene or operational reasons.

Tours may be modified, postponed or cancelled because of weather, unsafe conditions or circumstances outside our reasonable control. If Opito Bay Salt Co. cancels your experience, you will be offered another date or a full refund.

We are not responsible for associated travel, accommodation or other costs, except where required by New Zealand law.

  1. Food allergies and dietary requirements

Our tastings may include flavoured salts and seasonings some containing allergens. Products containing fish and sesame are also packed within our facility, and we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

Please advise us of any allergies when booking, or at least 48 hours before your visit. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your requirements, but we cannot guarantee that cross-contact will not occur.

  1. Health and safety

Guests must follow all reasonable safety, hygiene and access instructions provided by Opito Bay Salt Co. staff.

Enclosed, flat footwear is required for production-area/salt farm tours. Some surfaces may be uneven, wet or slippery. Please tell us before booking if anyone in your group has mobility or accessibility requirements so we can discuss suitable arrangements.

Guests must remain with their host and may not enter production, storage or restricted areas unless invited to do so.

  1. Children and supervision

Guests under 16 years of age must be accompanied and actively supervised by a responsible adult at all times. The supervising adult is responsible for ensuring children follow all safety instructions.

  1. Guest conduct

We reserve the right to refuse entry or end an experience if a guest behaves in a way that is unsafe, disruptive, abusive or likely to affect our staff, other visitors, products or premises.

A refund will not normally be provided where an experience is ended because of a guest’s behaviour.

  1. Photography

You are welcome to take photographs for personal use unless your host identifies a restricted area.

We will always ask before taking or using identifiable photographs of guests for Opito Bay Salt Co. marketing.

  1. Personal information

Information provided when booking will be used to administer your booking, process payment, communicate important information and help us provide a safe experience.

Your information will be handled in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and may be processed through our booking and payment providers. We will not add you to marketing communications unless you have agreed to receive them.

  1. New Zealand consumer law

Nothing in these terms limits any rights or remedies you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986 or other applicable New Zealand law.
